Investment of R$ 122 million in hospitals will be made over the next four years

A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved the carrying out of 14 energy efficiency projects in public hospitals and charitable entities that provide social assistance services in Brazil. Requests were submitted to the Agency through a public call.

These measures aim to promote the reduction of waste and electricity costs, increasing the financial sustainability of institutions and enabling hospitals to continue providing adequate services for the benefit of the population.

In total, 142 hospital units will benefit, 97 of which will benefit from the implementation of solar energy systems. The total power of the photovoltaic distributed generation plants is 15,319.20 kW, which represents 4.8 thousand tons of carbon dioxide equivalent that are no longer emitted into the atmosphere per year.

Considering the longevity of energy efficiency actions, the benefit is equivalent to the planting of 240 thousand trees. "O investment of R$ 122 million in hospitals will be made over the next four years and represents energy savings equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of a city of 25 thousand inhabitants”, highlights ANEEL.

According to the Agency, all benefited consumer units are located in the following concession areas:

  • Copel Distribution;
  • CPFL Paulista;
  • CPFL Piratininga;
  • RGE Sul Distribuição;
  • Celesc Distribution;
  • Energisa Acre;
  • Energisa Mato Grosso do Sul;
  • Energisa Paraíba;
  • Energisa Tocantins;
  • Energisa Mato Grosso;
  • Electrocar.
