ANEEL authorizes operation of three solar plants in Brazil

New spaces total 166.6 MW of installed capacity in Minas Gerais, Goiás and Rio Grande do Norte

ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) authorized the commercial operation of five renewable plants in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás and Rio Grande do Norte. Together, the new spaces total 166.6 MW of installed capacity.

In Minas Gerais, the operation of the photovoltaic plants Jaíba 3 (33 MW), Jaíba 4 (33 MW) and Jaíba 9 (22.5 MW) was authorized, totaling 88.5 MW of installed capacity, in the municipality of Jaíba.

In Goiás, the start of operation of the UTE São Martinho Boa Vista biomass plant, with 44.5 MW of installed capacity, in the city of Quirinópolis was approved.

In Rio Grande do Norte, the operation of the Ventos de Santa Martina 13 wind farm was authorized, in the municipalities of Bento Fernandes and Riachuelo, with 33.6 MW of installed capacity.

The Agency also authorized the test operation of:

  • 17,325 MW from the Chafariz 4 wind farm, located in the municipalities of Areia de Baraúnas and Santa Luzia, in the state of Paraíba;
  • 3,550 MW from the Farol de Touros wind farm, located in the municipality of Touros, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte;
  • 4.2 MW from the Vila Espírito Santo III wind farm, located in the Municipality of Serra do Mel, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
