ANEEL e Embaixada da Dinamarca assinam memorando para transição energética

ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and the Royal Danish Embassy signed this Thursday (23) the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Transition to Sustainable Energy and Mitigation of Climate Change.

The agreement aims to exchange knowledge, experiences, data and good practices relevant to the development of Offshore Wind Energy, Energy Recovery from Waste (Waste to Energy), Energy Transition and Business Generation. The signing was formalized by the Agency's general director, André Pepitone, and ambassador Nicolai Prytz.

“The cooperation will strengthen the dialogue between Brazil and Denmark on energy transition solutions and promote the exchange of knowledge and experience in formulating energy capacity expansion plans, seeking security in energy supply in all its forms and inclusion of new energy sources and their eventual impact on the energy system, including energy generation, transmission and distribution”, stated ANEEL.

Also according to the Agency, the memorandum includes forms of cooperation relating to the exchange of data, information and documents, online meetings and international and intergovernmental visits, involving political agents, regulators, academic institutions and companies, in addition to joint organization and participation in seminars , workshops and meetings to share information and best practices.

Brazilian market attracts Danish investments

In August this year, Danish renewable energy projects company European Energy completed the purchase of two solar projects from Brazilian developer EDN Renováveis. The solar project sale transaction was brokered by ITA Capital, focused on alternative and sustainable investments.

The assets are located in Bahia and total 599 MWp, with an expected investment of R$ 1.5 billion, with the start of operations scheduled for 2024. The project will provide electricity equivalent to a city with approximately 1.4 million inhabitants or 350 thousand residences.

European Energy develops, finances, builds and operates solar and wind generation parks. Based in Copenhagen. Denmark, the company has a strong track record in the renewable energy sector in Europe, Brazil, the United States and Australia.

“We are very happy with the closing of this operation, as it offers renewable energy, sustainable investment and generation of income and employment for a region with low economic activity, all in the middle of a pandemic. Furthermore, the fact that a solid international group wants to increase its investment exposure in Brazil is extremely positive for the country and only reinforces the importance of the renewable energy sector on the global agenda”, declared Raphael Fraga, CEO of ITA Capital.
