A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) authorized the operation of another solar project in the country at the beginning of this week. The entity authorized the operation of the Juazeiro V plant, with an installed capacity of 47.2 MW, in the municipality of Juazeiro, in the interior of the State of Bahia.

According to the Agency, this is an important step towards promoting solar energy in the northeast region of the country, as UFV Juazeiro I to IV are also part of the complex, which have been in operation since 2018.

Currently, the Northeast is the Brazilian region with the highest generation of solar energy from large plants, with more than 73% of all monitored power.

Of the 4.02 GW of GC (Centralized Generation), just over 2.966 GW were generated only in the states that make up the location. Next, the Southeast regions appear (1.022 GW); North (0.016 GW); South (0.014 GW) and Central-West (0.006 GW).

In the second week of October, the Agency had also authorized the start of commercial operations of the largest solar generation plant in the State of São Paulo: the Pereira Barreto I to IV complex, with 167.58 MW of installed capacity.

The project, located in the city of Pereira Barreto, on the banks of the Três Irmãos hydroelectric reservoir, has 600,000 panels aimed at producing clean and renewable electrical energy.

The complex began operations six months in advance of its commitment when awarded by ANEEL and, according to the company itself, will help the country face the biggest water crisis in the last 91 years.
