ANEEL recebe contribuições sobre regulação de sistemas de armazenamento

The deadline for sending contributions on the process of preparing a regulatory proposal regarding the insertion of storage systems, including pumped storage plants, in the SIN (National Interconnected System).

Contributions can be sent to email [email protected].

According to ANEEL Technical Note No. 94/2020 (National Electric Energy Agency), the discussion on the Grant Grant No. 11/2020 on storage systems should be completed by the second half of 2021.

In the document, ANEEL experts highlight which topics should be considered. Among them, accharacterization of storage resources, aespecification of the services to be provided; the sancillary services, omcapacity (or ballast) market, orof Transmission and Distribution Systems, opeoa grant processtendency towards isolated systems.

In the technical note, the agency's experts highlight that theStorage systems are fundamental for the large-scale insertion of intermittent renewable energy, which is essential to ensure the expansion of the electrical matrix with lower carbon emissions.

Experts also highlight that these systems can act as a stabilizing element between an increasingly less flexible energy supply and a demand with a low level of elasticity to short-term price fluctuations.

In this way, the various storage technologies can be installed in all segments of the electrical system, whether next to centralized generation, in the transmission system, in distribution or within consumer units, whether industrial, commercial or residential.

What is a subsidy taking?

Subsidy making is a mechanism that enables society's participation during the preliminary phases of the Agency's regulatory process and includes different techniques for collecting data, ideas, suggestions and opinions on a given topic or problem.

Using this tool, ANEEL collects information that can be used as input for the study phases and for the development of proposals for normative acts and regulations.
