Until October 2020, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) recorded the completion of 5,296.04 km of new transmission lines and 13,352 MVA in substation transformers.

According to the agency, in October alone there were 1,057 km of lines and 1,450 MVA in transformation capacity.

Another highlight highlighted by ANEEL is that a single project, in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais, completed 791 km of transmission lines in October, on routes between the cities of Caetité (BA) and Janaúba (MG), with 253 km, Poções (BA) and Padre Paraíso (MG), with 323 km, and Padre Paraíso to Governador Valadares (MG), with 215 km.

The states with the highest mileage completed in 2020 are: Bahia (1,302 km), Pará (887 km) and São Paulo (782.09 km). In terms of active power accumulated in the year, São Paulo (3,607 MVA), Minas Gerais (2,075 MVA), Goiás (1,619 MVA), and Pará (1,450 MVA) are in the lead.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, ANEEL reported that it has normally monitored the expansion of electricity transmission in Brazil. Among the innovations being implemented by the agency's supervision is, for example, the use of technologies that allow permanent monitoring of works through high-resolution satellite images.
