APAE of Florianópolis installs solar plant and saves 70% on electricity bills

System should generate 55.81 MWh per year and will serve all Santa Catarina association buildings
Project required R$ 559.13 thousand in investments for its implementation

APAE Florianópolis (SC), located in the Itacorubi neighborhood in the capital of Santa Catarina, received the installation of a photovoltaic plant on its roof.

There were 129 410W polycrystalline solar modules and a 60 kW three-phase on-grid inverter. The estimated energy production is 55.81 MWh/year.

The plant was installed in the new APAE building, which will house the TEA (Dr. Álvaro José de Oliveira Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center), but will serve all APAE buildings.

The prospect is that the plant, which will start operating at the end of the month, will provide savings of approximately 70% on the energy bill.

The project was developed and installed by Celesc (Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina SA), which invested R$ 559.13 thousand in resources for its implementation. The initiative arose from the Public Call for the Celesc/Aneel 2018 Energy Efficiency Program.

“With the growth in energy consumption, the demand for electrical energy is increasing, and photovoltaic systems bring this security to those who invest”, stated the project manager of the Energy Efficiency Department at Celesc, Rodrigo José Hoffmann.

“It allows the user to produce their own energy and supply the surplus to the distribution concessionaire, receiving credits for this generation”, adds Hoffmann.

According to the president of APAE, Ricardo de Souza Mendonça, the impact of the photovoltaic system will be important for the association.

“In addition to becoming practically self-sustainable in terms of energy, which will represent important financial savings, the project also offers clean energy, which contributes to the environment”, he celebrates.
