PL 5829/29 (Bill no. 5829/2019), which is being processed in the Chamber of Deputies, this week consolidated the support of the rural sector in Brazil and reached consensus among the chamber's leaders.
Savings on electricity bills and the distance of most rural properties from electricity distribution points contribute to the growing demand for solar energy in Brazil.
In Amazonas alone, solar energy can reach around 200,000 rural producers – the number of professionals who received the producer card from the State Government's Rural Environmental Registry. Currently, agribusiness represents 3.6% of the State's GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
With the possibility of broad access to the photovoltaic system and the drop in the cost of solar energy generation, the Legal Framework for GD (distributed generation) gained strength and became the main alternative to generate more than 1 million jobs and make agribusiness viable in the country.
Opinion: Solar energy in the countryside: cheaper food on the table
For Hewerton Martins, president of MSL (Movimento Solar Livre), the approval of PL5829 will bring legal certainty to rural producers when obtaining financing, whether from public banks or cooperatives, achieving the main objective, which is to reduce expenses.
“It is financing that generates a smaller bill than the amount spent on electricity. And after paying the financing, the rural producer will still have a useful life of 25 years in his system”, he reinforces.

Good morning. Excellent proposal for rural producers throughout Brazil, where small, medium and large farmers have leveraged and insured our economy. When will it come into effect and financing lines. Thanks
