The states of Bahia and Piauí account for more than half of all solar energy generated from large plants in the country. According to a survey carried out by Solar Channel, based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), the two regions accumulate just over 51.6% (2.34 GW) of the 4.53 GW in operation in the GC (centralized generation) segment in Brazil.

In Bahia, 1.3 GW is already being generated in 43 photovoltaic parks, while in Piauí there are 1.03 GW distributed among 29 projects. The two states, in fact, are the only ones in the country that, for now, have managed to surpass the 1 GW mark in solar GC.

The numbers also show that the future of the localities in relation to the segment is quite optimistic for the coming years, with the operation of new 200 photovoltaic plants, 26 of which have already started construction and another 174 awaiting bureaucratic pending issues before work can begin. The expectation is that when they are all operational they will generate another 7.6 GW.

At this moment, the centralized solar energy market corresponds to 2.1% of the entire Brazilian energy matrix, with momentary generation of 4.53 GW. Only in October, the source was responsible per 57% of the power released in GC for operation in the month, with 544.3 MW of the 957.03 MW. The volume was ahead, for example, of the amount released for thermal (24.7%) and wind (10.9%) generation plants.

As a country with high levels of solar irradiation, Brazil is a country that guarantees excellent performance of photovoltaic systems based on climatic factors, since their efficiency in certain regions can be much more satisfactory through the capture of solar rays. .

Check out the ten Brazilian states with the greatest power in solar GC below:

  • Bahia: 1.3 GW
  • Piauí: 1.03 GW
  • Minas Gerais: 631.16 MW
  • São Paulo: 550.11 MW
  • Ceará: 497.92 MW
  • Pernambuco: 205.23 MW
  • Paraíba: 138.18 MW
  • Large northern river: 123.95 MW
  • Santa Catarina: 8.61 MW
  • Holy Spirit: 5.38 MW
