At a time of rising tariff rates, the worst water shortage in the last 90 years, and probable electricity rationing, the Banco Safra and the Copernicus entered into a partnership to increase the purchasing power of consumers who want to install solar energy systems, through the use of FGTS when purchasing photovoltaic kits.

“What we did was close a partnership with Banco Safra so that the client can use the FGTS in the birthday withdrawal modality and install a solar energy system in their home without increasing the family's debt. With this, the consumer will be able to advance the amount of the FGTS anniversary by up to five years, provide the amount as a down payment and finance the remainder”, explains Hugo Albuquerque, commercial head at Copérnico.

Albuquerque highlights that the initiative can improve the consumer's credit analysis, because it allows them to use money that was sitting idle and that they would not have access to in a short space of time to enter their residential system. “The measure also prevents consumers from squeezing their own household budget and running the risk of getting into debt”, he highlighted.

The executive also pointed out that one of the reasons that led to the creation of the model for purchasing photovoltaic kits was the fact that some Brazilian states had started to levy ICMS on the energy tariff, making the system less attractive from a payback point of view. “What we had to do was create more payment terms so that the customer could pay the financing installment with a value less than or equal to their energy bill before installing a solar energy system”, he commented.

He also highlighted that by using the birthday withdrawal in advance, the end customer will be able to pay the balance on the card in up to 21 installments, or even finance in 120 months, a product that will be officially launched at the Intersolar Fair. “We understand that the end customer does not always have their credit approved, sometimes due to the amount requested. Sometimes, he is granted a credit of R$ 15 thousand, for example, but he needed more than that to buy and install the photovoltaic system”, concluded Albuquerque.

The operation will be via a platform that the end customer will access and be able to release the birthday withdrawal. There is already a booklet for this, the integrator simply needs to register on the Copérnico platform, issue a quote for the photovoltaic kit and ask the seller to assist him in the operation. To register on the platform, simply enter the site.

How does the FGTS Birthday Withdrawal work?

With the publication of Law 13,932 of 2019, workers who have a linked FGTS account can opt for the Anniversary Withdrawal system, as an alternative to the traditional Termination Withdrawal of the employment contract, whereby the money is only available upon dismissal. The option allows the withdrawal of part of the balance from the FGTS linked account, annually, in the month of the worker's birthday.

Anyone who migrates to the anniversary withdrawal and decides to return to the withdrawal-termination system can request a reversal at any time. However, the change will only take effect on the 1st day of the 25th month of the request and as long as the Loan with FGTS Birthday Withdrawal Guarantee is paid off.
