A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) released on the last Friday (29) that tariff flag green remains in force for January 2024, that is, the accounts in electricity will have no additional cost.

According to the Agency, the green flag is a consequence of the favorable conditions for energy generation, a situation that has remained for 21 months, since April 2022.

General director Sandoval Feitosa highlighted that “the signage confirms the good energy conditions in the country and allows the consumer to start having a more conscious consumption, by knowing the real cost of energy. We start the year with excellent news for consumers.”

Created in 2015, the tariff flags aim to help consumers understand when to save and understand the value of the month's energy generation.

Therefore, on a monthly basis, “ANEEL monitors and makes projections for the activation of the flags, valid for all consumers of the National Interconnected System (SIN), a network of electrical energy transmission lines that connects plants to consumers”, stated the Agency.

What are the tariff flags?

Green Flag: good generation conditions. The fare is not subject to any increase.

Yellow Flag: Less favorable generation conditions. The tariff increases by R$1.874 for every 100 kWh consumed.

Red Flag – Level 1: Poor generation conditions. The tariff increases by R$3.971 for every 100 kWh consumed.

Red Flag – Level 2: Pretty bad generation conditions. The tariff increases by R$9.49 for every 100 kWh consumed.

Water scarcity flag: Tariff created for the 2021 drought. The tariff applies an extra R$14.20 for every 100 kWh consumed.
