A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) announced, this Friday (25), the green tariff flag in March 2022 for consumers who receive the benefit of the Social Electricity Tariff.
According to the Agency, with this flag, which indicates favorable conditions for energy generation, there are no increases in the electricity bill for these consumers.
For other users, the Water Scarcity Flag remains in force, worth R$ 14.20 for every 100 kWh consumed.
This extra amount was necessary to cover energy costs, which became more expensive as a result of the period of water scarcity in 2021. It remains in force until April 2022.
“We believe that [the Water Scarcity Flag] will not be necessary from April onwards. It was used to pay the additional cost of generating energy”, said Bento Albuquerque, Minister of Mines and Energy.
“As we did not have water to generate our hydroelectric plants, we had to contract energy abroad, from Argentina, Uruguay, and we had to use our thermoelectric plants, which are more expensive, due to the oil, due to the gas”, he pointed out.
