O BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved a financing of R$ 75 million The Trade Efficiency, company of Comerc Energia Group and which works with diagnosis and offering energy efficiency solutions.

A operation will allow that the company promotes greater energy efficiency for its customers, which should achieve reductions in energy consumption of up to 79%, generating estimated total savings of up to 66 GWh per year.

Marcel Haratz, director of Comerc Eficiência, explains that the company has been seeking to expand its energy efficiency projects, in segments such as green hydrogen, telemetry and automation.

“This financing gives us the possibility of continuing to offer energy efficiency projects in an even more competitive way for our clients, from a financial point of view, ensuring the strength necessary to continue with our robust pipeline, with more than 100 projects under negotiation” , he said.

The projects supported by BNDES within the scope of the operation include the implementation of energy efficiency solutions for ten projects in the industrial and retail sectors, as well as utilities in a commercial building.

Of the R$ 75 million financed, around R$ 27 million will be made possible with resources from the Climate Fund, which has as one of its focuses actions aimed at promoting energy efficiency for the sustainability of cities.

In addition to gains in energy efficiency, support for Comerc Eficiência will help to avoid greenhouse gas emissions of up to 59 thousand tons of CO2.

Decarbonization

According to data from EPE (Energy Research Company), the industrial sector today accounts for more than 30% of final energy consumption and almost 40% of electricity consumed in Brazil, which makes it a priority for public energy efficiency policies.

The services sector represents around a quarter of the electricity demanded, due to lighting, refrigeration and motive power.

Climate Fund

Linked to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Climate Fund was created in 2009 and is administered by BNDES, which acts as manager in the application of reimbursable resources.

Currently, the Fund has a portfolio of more than R$ 2 billion in credit already contracted by BNDES.
