O Brazil registered more than 267,800 solar energy systems installed in the first half of 2022 in residential, commercial, industrial, rural and government-related properties.

This is an average of around 1,480 units connected to the grid per day, according to a survey carried out by Solar Channel, based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

The number exceeds by more than 35% the volume of 172.4 thousand photovoltaic systems installed in the country in the segment of G.D. (Distributed generation) in the same period of the previous year, that is, between the months of January and June 2021.

In the first half of 2022, the states with the highest number of installations were: São Paulo (53,978), Minas Gerais (37,673) and Rio Grande do Sul (37,024). Together, the three locations accounted for almost half of all connections that were made during the period.

Another point to note was the high demand technology by residential consumers, who alone were responsible for more than 82% of installations accounted for in the first six months of the year. In total, more than 220.4 thousand installations were recorded, compared to 137.8 thousand in relation to the same period last year.

Explanations

The main reasons that explain the increase in demand for solar panels in the country, especially in residential properties, are: the greater popularization of the technology, the increasingly expensive electricity bill and the fear of part of consumers with the new rules in compensation from GD.

“The fact that people are becoming more and more aware of solar energy, added to all the energy problems that the country has been facing, undoubtedly makes consumers want to have the technology installed in their properties”, assesses Gustavo Tegon, sales specialist and co-founder of Esfera Solar.
