A Brazilian model of public-private partnership for training specialized labor in solar energy is a reference for a international technical cooperation project, which aims qualify technical professionals for the photovoltaic market and carry out applied research in Palestine.

The program, coordinated by the German company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), specialized in technical cooperation and sustainable development on a global scale, has the participation of Fronius from Brazil, a subsidiary of the Austrian manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters, and federal institutes of São Paulo of technical education.

The choice of Fronius to participate in the cooperation is due to the relationship and some work previously carried out together with GIZ with Brazilian educational institutions, which now rely on the company's technology and knowledge to train new professionals specialized in photovoltaic systems.

Currently, Fronius do Brasil stated that it contributes to the training of thousands of technicians and engineers, providing inverters for the laboratory and sharing knowledge about photovoltaic technology in educational institutions, such as the Federal University of ABC and Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FEI) , as well as Senai technical schools and federal institutes in São Paulo.

“Fronius also has activities in Palestine. But the Brazilian subsidiary can share with representatives of Palestinian schools its experience and the forms of partnerships that they can also execute there”, said Roberta Knopki, coordinator of the Energy and Future Professionals for Green Economy area at GIZ.

Furthermore, she emphasized that the manufacturer can collaborate with applied research together, which will also be of great value for students to learn about another reality in terms of learning and the solar energy sector.

Fronius invests €230 million in creating new production lines

According to Roberta, Palestine has technical and higher education courses that meet current demand. The plan is to create qualification courses for faster training of photovoltaic system installers and contribute to the development of the internal solar energy market, increasing the offer of solutions.

“Despite the availability of abundant solar energy, the photovoltaic market in Palestine is not that developed. The country imports 95% of its energy from Israel, which also distributes much of its electricity,” he explained.

Ariel Martins, commercial technical coordinator of the Solar Energy Unit, at Fronius do Brasil, highlighted the importance of support from a company in the sector to technical education institutions, aiming at the training and development of a greater number of designers, installers, integrators and, especially, of entrepreneurs who will enter the solar market in the near future.

“Fronius’ role is to bring a lot of knowledge acquired over more than 30 years of history in developing technologies in solar energy equipment. We seek a sustainable world, where it is possible to make the concept of 24 hours of sunshine a reality”, he concluded.
