O Brazil surpassed the mark of 6 GW of installed capacity in solar plants with GC (centralized generation), according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
O amount he was Reached with the entry of four plants in three states, released for commercial operation this Tuesday (06). Currently, there are more than 13,500 enterprises in commercial operation.
The units that began operating, according to the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), demonstrate “the multiplicity of sources and locations characteristic of energy generation in the country”.
Also according to ANEEL, the numbers reinforce the growth that the sector has been registering in recent years, especially in the last four years, considering that until In 2017, photovoltaic plants did not even participate in the Brazilian electrical matrix.
Currently, solar is the 4th largest source of centralized generation in Brazil, and – in addition to the 6 GW installed – Brazil also currently has another 4.37 GW of capacity in projects scheduled to come into operation in the short term.
Other plants granted by ANEEL and about to be built also have 58.5 GW of power. At this moment, the Brazilian states with the largest installed capacity in operation in the GC segment are: Bahia (1.35 GW); Piauí (1.22 GW) and Minas Gerais (1.18 GW).
