Brazil reached the mark of 400 thousand UCs (consumer units) that use photovoltaic solar energy. The volume considers microgeneration and minigeneration systems in homes, businesses, industries, rural properties and public buildings.
According to data from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), the photovoltaic source dominates the DG (distributed generation) segment, with more than 99% of the country's installations.
“This record is the result of the effort of the entire distributed solar generation segment to transform Brazil into a more sustainable country. We celebrate this important achievement, at the same time that we realize that we still have a lot of work and opportunities ahead: there are still more than 85 million consumer units in Brazil that do not have photovoltaic solar”, highlighted Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the Board of ABSOLAR.
Data from the association shows that, since 2012, photovoltaic DG has had an average increase of 231% per year in the country, contributing more than R$ 4.7 billion reais, reinjected into the local economy. Furthermore, more than 190,000 jobs were created in the country during the period.
