The GDF (Government of the Federal District) published, last week, notice call for service providers to work on the executive project and installation work photovoltaic systems and charging stations for EVs (electric vehicles), with the supply of materials, labor and equipment.

Regarding the solar plant, it will be installed in the Águas Claras Ecological Park, while smaller infrastructures will be built in other conservation units: the Ezechias Heringer, Dom Bosco and Cortado ecological parks, which house the Brasília Veterinary Hospital. The Zoo and Botanical Gardens of Brasília will receive two charging units for EVs.

According to the Authority, the electricity generated by the plant, which has around 500 kWp, will be injected into the distribution system and compensated in accordance with ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) rules. The credits will be used to serve up to 42 parks and ten public schools.

The photovoltaic project is part of the strategy to promote clean energy in the DF, foreseen in the Strategic Planning from 2019 to 2060, and will be made possible by the CITinova Sustainable Cities project in Brazil.

Also according to the government, the initiative is carried out by Sema (Secretariat for the Environment) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with resources from the GDF and support from the Center for Management and Strategic Studies and the United Nations Program for the environment.

“The project will bring a more efficient model for public energy spending, with capacity for expansion, becoming an excellent reference for other states or municipalities”, highlighted Nazaré Soares, executive coordinator of the CITinova project in DF.
