Brasol and Aegea inaugurate two solar plants in Petrópolis (RJ)

A Brazil, company specialized in development in projects in generation in clean energy, and the company in Aegea sanitation signed partnership It is inaugurate two solar plants in Petrópolis (RJ). 

Plants occupy an area of 12,300 square meters and have 4,700 modules and eight inverters. The plants are expected to generate 3.7 GWh per year.

The investment will meet the energy consumption of 27 Águas do Rio units, responsible for supplying treated water and sewage in 27 municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro with around 10 million customers.

In addition to this project, new plants are planned in the same state and expansions in Mato Grosso, consolidating the partnership in these regions.

The partnership between Brasol and Aegea has been going on since 2022, when inaugurated the first ten plants in the states of Mato Grosso and Amazonas, totaling 5.2 MWp of installed power. According to the companies, The strategy is to prioritize a renewable electrical matrix and reduce energy consumption. 

According to Emerson Rocha, Energy Management and Energy Efficiency manager at Aegea, the company has 97% of the energy consumed in its units coming from renewable sources.

David Betancur, COO of Brasol, comments that the plants implemented are among the five largest in Rio de Janeiro and will supply the mountainous region of the state with a sustainable energy model. 

“With installed power of 1.3 MWp and 1.27 MWp, respectively, they occupy the third and fourth position among the largest DG (distributed generation) photovoltaic plants in the state, according to the classification of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) ”, adds Betancur.

For the CEO and founder of Brasol, Ty Eldridge, the partnership with Aegea, has been an example and reference in the segment. “The plants will meet the energy consumption needs of Águas do Rio’s local units, and will contribute to Aegea’s sustainability goals”, he states.
