The manufacturer BYD presented during Intersolar South America 2021 a new line of monofacial and bifacial solar panels with greater production capacity of 450 W, 530 W and 670 W.
According to the company, the new line of panels raised the level of automation and technology in manufacturing processes through state-of-the-art equipment, which allowed the use of multi-busbar, half-cell, 1/3 cut cell, micro-gap and negative-gap.
“The project to update the photovoltaic module production line is a great achievement for the sector. We are bringing to Brazil, which had already proven itself capable of designing high power and quality modules, the ability to manufacture them on scale, with a level of productivity and efficiency identical to global levels”, highlights Murilo Bonetto, research manager and development of BYD Energy Brasil.

According to the company, the investment in the new line of panels also allows the factory to be compatible with all dimensions of photovoltaic cells currently available on the market and will be able to laminate and encapsulate conventional or double-glass modules.
“The success of developing a new photovoltaic module is not just based on product technology, the process technology has to develop and adapt with the same intensity and speed to effectively manufacture these innovative products”, explains Bonetto.
The duration of the factory's transformation operations is expected to take up to 75 calendar days, starting in December 2021 and commercialization is already scheduled for February of next year.
