After creating one of the largest mask factories in the world in China, in January of this year, BYD decided to sell the products in Brazil as well. The measure aims to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic that affects the whole world, including Brazilians.

Part of the masks produced has already been donated to partners in the photovoltaic sector. The measure was a way to help ensure the safety of all workers in the workplace.

According to BYD, the masks have a triple layer of protection, are easy to breathe and have an appropriate fit to guarantee protection. Furthermore, they are made with ultra-soft, high-quality materials.

The initiative, which arrives in Brazil, was the brainchild of BYD's global president, Wang Chuanfu, who decided, in January, to create a factory to produce face masks and sterilizing gel with the aim of helping society reduce the severe shortage of masks amid the pandemic. A month later, it became one of the largest manufacturers of the product in the world.

The task force led by Wang Chuanfu is made up of different business divisions and more than 3,000 engineers. Today, the factory is operating 24 hours a day and is capable of producing 5 million masks daily.

“The Coronavirus pandemic is a major challenge for the world, which requires a joint effort, as is the climate issue, which demands cooperation between multilateral organizations,” said Adalberto Maluf, marketing director at BYD in Brazil.
