Production of the new modules is scheduled to begin on April 25th

A BYD Energy confirmed the inauguration of its new photovoltaic module production line in Campinas (SP). The production and start of sales of the new modules produced by the company are scheduled for April 25th.

A Ceremony is scheduled for April 19th, will be attended by authorities and other guests, in addition to the company's board, including Stella Li, Global Executive Vice President of BYD.

According to the manufacturer, in addition to implementing state-of-the-art equipment, which made it possible to increase the level of automation and technology in manufacturing processes, several technologies were added to the products such as Multi-busbar, half-cell, 1/3 cut cell, micro-gap and negative-gap.

With the opening, the company starts to sell a complete line of high power, mono and bifacial modules, which range from 450 W to 670 W. Also according to BYD, the new line also allowed the factory to become compatible with all dimensions of photovoltaic cells currently available on the market, with great gains in productivity and efficiency.

“It is now possible to laminate and encapsulate conventional or double-glass. Another notable fact is that the expansion and transformation of production processes guaranteed the company to triple its capacity to reach 0.5 GW, enough to supply a city with 750 thousand inhabitants,” the company said in a press release.

National technology

The new voltaic modules that are being sold on the market by BYD Energy – from design, development, to complete implementation – were developed by the company's own local engineering team.

“This is BYD’s biggest differentiator. When we talk about investing or developing the market, we don't just think about production and sales. It also includes the training of specialized labor and training. We are very proud to say that a large part of our equipment was developed by the R&D and Product Engineering team here in Brazil”, he states Marcelo Taborda, Commercial Director at BYD Energy do Brasil.

Taborda adds that BYD has all the necessary equipment to measure and certify the photovoltaic modules developed in the Brazilian market. “This way, we were able to certify our modules and others produced abroad, at BYD Energy itself. With this, we gained a lot in agility, time, deadline, cost and also in quality”, he adds.

“From the beginning, BYD understood that there was a great market potential for the growth of a technology that was still beginning in Brazil, but already consolidated abroad. Therefore, it invested heavily in the area. Today, in addition to representing the largest factory in operation and occupying the position of largest manufacturer in the country, it has produced more than 1.6 million modules in the last five years, bringing great independence and savings to the market, as a source of clean and renewable energy. ", highlights Adalberto Maluf, Director of Marketing and Sustainability at BYD Brasil.
