The ONS (National Electric System Operator), the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) and the EPE (Energy Research Company) design a growth of 3.5% in Brazil's electricity load in 2023.
The forecast is in the 2nd Quarterly Review of Forecasts for the Annual Planning of Energy Operations 2023-2027, released this Tuesday (01).
According to the document, the result remained stable in relation to the 1st Revision, published in March, even with the higher outlook for this year's GDP (Gross Domestic Product), which jumped from 1% to 2.3%.
In the assessment of ONS, CCEE and EPE, projections for the short term consider as a premise the expectation of slowdown in the world economy as well as the process of slowdown why does it pass internal demand after the growth seen last year.
Another factor is the high family debt It is interest still high that prevent a more significant expansion of economic activity.
“In the medium term, a convergence towards an environment with greater stability and confidence among agents is expected, which explains the maintenance of forecasts for an increase in GDP in 2026, of 2.3% and in 2027, of 2.5%”, says the document.
Also according to the study, the scenario of lower uncertainty mainly favors the infrastructure sectors. As a result, the estimate is for an average annual growth of 3.3% in load in the period between 2023 and 2027, reaching 84,980 average MW at the end of the cycle.
The portion of DG (distributed generation) in the load planned for 2023 is 3,658 average MW and, for the period 2024-2027, it is 3,786 average MW. This generation will be represented in both load and supply, with zero net effect.
