Cattalini Terminais Marítimos, a company in the liquid bulk from the Port of Paranaguá (PR), installed two photovoltaic plants to supply power to the private truck yard, which has capacity for 450 vehicles.

According to the company, the objective of implementing the plants is to bring together sustainability It is economy in the same project.

“All electricity consumption from the Cattalini Private Pier, as well as from the truck yard, will be generated by our solar plants. This is very important to make our company even more sustainable”, said Weder Pozza, Maintenance Manager at Cattalini Terminais.

“In addition to the important sustainability benefits, solar plants will also generate a reduction in electricity costs of around R$ 231,314.00 per year,” he added.

The two plants, which have around 400 solar modules, are installed in strategic areas of the company, with the structure that supports the panels also serves as shelter for vehicles.

“We seek energy efficiency, environmental preservation and optimization of occupied space. The good results obtained in this engineering project encourage us to increase the number of modules, so that other Cattalini installations can be served with solar energy in the future”, revealed Lucas Teruo Andrade, Electrical Maintenance Manager.

With an installed power of 224 KW, the projects will produce 20 thousand KWh/month and the surplus produced by the solar panels is directed to Cattalini's private pier.

The CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia, states that Cattalini Terminais' actions are an example of a sustainable company, following the management model adopted by the port authority.

“Cattalini’s initiative is fully aligned with the sustainable profile defended by Portos do Paraná. Currently, we are the only port in the world to be invited to one of the biggest events on climate change, the COP, precisely because it encourages good socio-environmental practices”, highlighted Garcia.

Concern for the environment

Currently, the Cattalini Maritime Terminals is a signatory of the Net Zero Ambition Movement, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact, which seeks to reduce 2 Giga tons of CO2e in accumulated emissions by 2030, towards a carbon neutral future.

For the company, solar generation follows a global trend aimed at environmental preservation. “Photovoltaic plants are an important strategic project, which represents the path that Cattalini is taking to, increasingly, be recognized as a sustainable company for its stakeholders”, commented Gabriella Rodrigues Leal da Silva.
