A Cemig (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais) reported that it made available a tool on your website to substation consultation (if there is inversion of power flow) and for power release calculation G.D. (distributed generation) according to the average consumption (kWh) of the consumer unit in the last 12 complete months billed.

With such a device it is possible that technical managers or consumers know if there is flow reversal at a given substation without the need to request a connection quote.

Furthermore, there is a calculator which allows you to calculate the how much power will be released for installation in places where there is flow reversal, according to Cemig.

A generation power will be released according to the class of the consumer unit (residential, commercial, rural, public and industrial), as shown in the calculator provided.

The tool can be accessed by anyone, clicking in this link. Then, just scroll down the page to “Attachments” and download the file “Substation Consultation (Flow Reversal) and Release Calculator”.

Flow reversal

Since the regulation of Law 14,300/2022, ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) has received a series of questions from companies and associations in the photovoltaic sector about the performance of electricity distributors.

According to the text, concessionaires are obliged to carry out studies and propose solutions to their customers when a request for a new connection or an increase in the injected power of a DG system results in a reversal of the flow. Something that to date has not occurred in some concession areas.

One in five

In March of this year, Canal Solar published a report that revealed that for every five integrators that made sales in the solar energy sector in 2023, at least one suffered from allegations of flow reversal in their connection budgets by distributors.

The data – which was released by Greener – shows that among the Brazilian regions Minas Gerais, Alagoas and Rio Grande do Sul ended up being the states that, in percentage terms, received the most allegations of flow reversal last year.

  1. Congratulations on the report. Many of us Brazilians want to have our own plant and generate our own energy; but unfortunately for some reasons we cannot make this happen.

What we know is: For more than 18 years in Europe and the United States, customers have been allowed to choose to buy or be part of a company X or Y that generates its own energy.

Here in Brazil it took a long time, but fortunately or unfortunately for some, a Law was signed in 2022 that allows us to be part of a plant sharing its credits through companies; This is called Energy Transition; Now January 2024 has opened the long-awaited Free Energy Market. That's right.

It's been going on for almost 2 years now. You, me, we can be part of this movement, just like what happened with the telephone market in 1990.
I acquired my License (Franchise) and today I have the opportunity to have my own renewable energy without having to purchase plates or install any equipment.

We can obtain up to 20% for group B low voltage customers: homes, industries and companies and up to 30% group A high voltage customers.

  2. Many of the distributors were not respecting article 73 of REN 1000, which led to complaints from several integrators who had their projects blocked by this measure without due analysis. Today it is much better than at the beginning of the denial of connection requests.
