Midwest approaches the mark of 1 GW of power in solar DG

The region has more than 67,500 generating units and around 86,000 consumers receiving credit

Nine out of ten cities in the Central-West Region of Brazil have a photovoltaic system generating energy through the Sun. 

The survey was carried out by Canal Solar based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) on solar DG (distributed generation).

According to the research, of the 466 municipalities in the region (IBGE 2019), which is made up of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District, 462 already have photovoltaic systems installed in homes, businesses, public buildings, among others. 

The survey also showed that the region has 958 MW of installed solar DG capacity, with more than 67.5 thousand generating units and around 86 thousand consumers receiving credits.

For Ráiney Soares, Solar Product Manager at technological solutions distributor Horus, this presence of solar energy in the country's Center-West shows the potential that the region has.

“The growing search for photovoltaic system installations in homes, businesses, industries and in rural areas in the region makes it very clear the advantages that solar energy provides, including savings at the end of the month”, he highlights. 

Currently, Horus has its headquarters located in Brasília (DF) and has three more physical units in the Center West of the country, established in the states of Goiás, in addition to a unit in Tocantins and Ceará, totaling six physical units with a regionalized distribution center .

The expectation is that this year the company will reach the mark of R$ 135 million in revenue in the sector. According to Tarcisio Augusto Dario, director of the company, “a large part of Horus' growth is the result of a commercial policy of respect for the chain of integrators, high quality products, stock availability and highly competitive prices”.

Tarcisio also stated that the growth of solar energy in the coming years should be exponential and that Horus is fully prepared to continue to lead the segment in its regions of operation.

Its portfolio includes Jinko, Canadian and Trina Solar modules, Fronius and Goodwe inverters, as well as plate fixing structures from the Spin and Pratyc brands. Horus also supplies Cabomix photovoltaic cables and Fluke precision equipment.
