Claro opened a photovoltaic solar plant in the Federal District (DF), with the aim of supplying 110 units of its company and expanding the production of clean energy in Brazil.
The project was installed in an area of approximately six hectares and has 11,880 photovoltaic modules with powers of 325Wp and 330Wp, in addition to 25 inverters, capable of generating 6.54 GWh/year.
The plant is part of the “A Energia da Claro” program, launched in 2017, which prioritizes the use of renewable sources and environmental protection actions in all of the company's operations and facilities in Brazil.
With the new feature, the Clear estimates that it will prevent the emission of 490 tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere.
The initiative already has solar plants in other states, such as Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Pará, Pernambuco, Piauí, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, in addition to projects under construction in the others federative units.
This is EDP's second project for the operator in the solar energy segment, since in June last year, the company delivered to Claro four distributed generation solar plants in an area of 5.8 hectares in the municipality of Taubaté (SP ).
The space has an installed capacity of more than 4 MWp and guarantees the supply of renewable energy to 516 Claro consumer units in the state of São Paulo.
