Produce fuel using renewable energy from hydrogen, which is obtained from the electrolysis of water to fuel planes. This is the goal of the state of Ceará.

The Ceará government announced this week that it is preparing to host research that will allow the production of green aviation kerosene, contributing to Brazil's sustainability.

According to the announcement, the project is the result of a partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the German Development Agency, and should be developed over the next three years. The goal is for the entire production chain to use raw materials from renewable sources.

“The idea came to us through a man from Ceará who completed his doctorate at UNICAMP and created a company that already produces green hydrogen from the electrolysis of water, using renewable sources”, said Júlio Cavalcante, executive secretary of Commerce, Service and Innovation at the Secretariat. of Economic Development and Labor.

According to him, the plant to produce this hydrogen for aviation will be in containers. “Therefore, it will be possible to install them in airports that will be able to produce their own fuel without the need to transport kerosene there”, highlighted Cavalcante.

The expectation is that within a year the studies will begin to present results. The government of Ceará is supporting the initiative in the search for partners to finance the program. Initially, the negotiation is for the pilot project to take place on Fraport's land, in Fortaleza.

Embraer and EDP Smart, a division that brings together the portfolio of energy solutions from the Portuguese company EDP, have signed a partnership that promises to revolutionize the mobility sector in Brazil.

This is because the companies announced that the first flight of a prototype airplane with 100% electric propulsion technology should take place in 2021. know more.

More investments

The government of Ceará also announced last Friday (19) the construction of the green hydrogen HUB. The state is investing in reducing pollutants and creating jobs to boost the state's economy.

The project is a government partnership with Fiec (Federation of Industries of Ceará), UFC (Federal University of Paraná) and CIPP S/A (Pecém Industrial and Port Complex).

The plant for the production of H2V will be implemented by Energix Energy, an Australian energy producer, in the Pecém Complex. The company expects to invest US$ 5.4 billion in the project.

“Everyone is moving towards the use of clean energy and Ceará is at the forefront of changing the socioeconomic reality, as we have all the favorable conditions to produce and export green hydrogen”, says Camillo Santana, governor of the CE.

Kerosene has in its chemical composition hydrocarbons derived from naphthalene and phenanthrene. So the other components of the hydrocarbon, where will they come from?
