The streets and alleys of Favela dos Sonhos, in Ferraz de Vasconcelos (SP), received the installation of 30 solar energy poles to guarantee sustainable public lighting for more than 190 families living in the community.
The technology was installed last Saturday (22) by EDP Institute, in partnership with social organizations Generating Falcons and the Liter of Light – who will be in charge of carrying out maintenance and measuring the positive impact of the equipment on the community.
The EDP Institute explains that the sustainable poles installed are made of PVC tubes, equipped with a solar panel, battery, LED lamp and plastic bottle. The technology was assembled by 50 volunteers and community residents.
The project included investments of R$ 126 thousand from the EDP Institute, which obtained authorization from the Ferraz de Vasconcelos city council to regularize the electrical energy of the community's houses.
