The world's lowest tariff on solar energy is announced

The consortium formed by TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company), renewables company Masdar, French electric company EDF and Jinko is the winning party behind the world's lowest tariff on solar energy for the Al Dhafra photovoltaic farm , presented at the value of US $ 0.0135 / kWh. The announcement was officially made on Sunday (26).

The plant will have an installed capacity of 2 GW, which corresponds to more than 4,500 football fields. The energy generated by the plant will be enough to power more than 160,000 local homes each year.

According to EWEC (Emirates Water and Electric Company), Al Dhafra will have 3.2 million solar panels and is expected to enter commercial operation in the second half of 2022. When fully operational, the plant will increase Abu's photovoltaic energy capacity Dhabi to approximately 3.2 GW.

The facility will be owned at 60% by TAQA and Masdar, while EDF and Jinko will own the remaining 40%. The consortium will now work to present the project after signing a contract with EWEC.
