Electricity bill for Light's residential consumers will increase by 4.05%

A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved, this Tuesday (12), a average adjustment of 3.54% in the value of the distributor's tariffs Light, with the new values coming into force from Friday (15).

O annual adjustment will have different effects for consumer classes. Those connected in low tension, such as residential ones, will notice a average tariff increase of 4.05%, while those of high voltage will have an impact of 2.45%.

Altogether, the distributor serves more than 3.36 million consumer units in 37 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro. The items that most impacted the tariff process were distribution costs, energy transportation and payment of sector charges.

At the last year, O adjustment approved on the electricity bill of consumers at the Rio concessionaire was 7.4%. The controller of Light is in judicial recovery, with around R$ 11 billion in debt. 

In July 2023, the concessionaire filed a judicial recovery plan, which, according to the company, occurred due to issues such as non-technical losses; drop in the consumer market due to the economic degradation of the concession area and effects generated by the pandemic. 

Adjustment in Manaus

This Friday (15), the ANEEL will hold a public hearing for discuss the new tariff of electrical energy from Amazonas Energia, which will come into force on May 26th. Currently, the dealership serves more of 1 million units consumers in 63 municipalities in Amazonas. 

O average tariff adjustment should be 0.97%, with consumers in low tension (residences and the like) having a elevation on the electricity bill of 1,04%, while those linked in high voltage must have a reduction of 3,55%.
