Copel Mercado Livre holds auction to purchase energy

Company opens public call for solar and wind energy projects

Copel Mercado Livre, a subsidiary of Companhia Paranaense de Energia for selling energy in the free contracting environment, launched last week a public call to buy special incentivized energy with a 50% discount (TUSD/TUST) from solar and wind source projects .

According to the company, the process will be carried out in three stages throughout 2021 via an electronic trading platform. The auction for the first phase will be held on April 8th, and for phases 2 and 3, on June 1st and August 1st, respectively.

The winning proposals from the public call will result in the signing of energy purchase and sale contracts with Copel Mercado Livre. The contracts begin in 2023 (stage 1) and 2024 (stages 2 and 3) and will last 15 years.

According to the company, proponents must have power injected into the transmission/distribution system less than or equal to 50 thousand kW. Furthermore, their respective authorization grants must provide for a discount of 50% in TUSD/TUST for the entire contract horizon.Those interested in participating in the first phase must present the documents for qualification by 6pm on the 24th.
