Seeking to minimize the impact of harmful gases on the atmosphere with the emission of CO2, the Coritiba began an important process in structuring the club to start using renewable energy both at the Couto Pereira stadium and at its CT (Training Center).

The steps for this energy transition is taken from the paper has the support of Thymos Energia, a business consultancy specializing in the energy sector.

Currently, the club consumes around 1,000 MWh of electricity per year. This means that with the adoption of renewable sources, the Coxa will avoid the emission of approximately 50 tons of carbon dioxide per annum.

According to Thymos calculations, based on data from the EPE (Annual Energy Balance of the Energy Research Company), this corresponds to 300 trees planted or 50 fewer gasoline-powered cars on the streets.

The option for renewable energy is part of Coritiba's new management policy which, in June this year, concluded the sale of 90% from SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol) to the investment group Treecorp

O Coritiba is also part of the Global Compact for UN (United Nations), the company's program that supports institutions that value more sustainable actions. Furthermore, the Alviverde Club has the Aterro Zero Seal, granted to institutions and companies that eliminate the use of landfills during their waste management process.

“Companies around the world are currently engaged in adopting measures that minimize impacts on the environment. I see it as fundamental for a club with Coritiba's structure to be aligned with this behavior, to be an example and encourage others to look at the issue with greater responsibility”, stated André Campestrini, CFO of Coritiba.

The consultancy provided by Thymos Energia supports Coxa in the process of migration and adherence to the Free Energy Market, in addition to analyzing specific strategies for saving energy expenditure. Thymos will also manage the club's energy consumption in the coming years.

“Going to the Mercado Livre de Energia It is the natural path and will enable greater savings for Coritiba, leading to reduced input costs. Furthermore, the option for renewable energy is in line with sustainability, the use of these sources has been one of the most adopted ways by companies around the world to reduce emissions”, observed Nilton Lima, head of Energy Management at Thymos.
