CPFL Paulista recovered 116.1 GWh of energy in the Campinas (SP) region last year, reaching the highest volume recorded by the company in the last three years. According to the company, the index was 80% and 102% higher than those recorded in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Inspections carried out throughout 2020 resulted in 12,985 frauds being regularized in the region. According to CPFL, the volume of energy recovered would be enough to supply approximately 774 thousand homes for one month.
“We are increasingly committed to identifying and combating fraud and energy theft with a focus on increasing the quality and reliability of the energy supply offered. The efforts are part of the company's ongoing work and are made possible both through partnerships with public bodies and police authorities, as well as by investing in cutting-edge technology and team specialization in monitoring and analysis processes”, said Roberto Sartori, president of CPFL Paulista .
“It is important to clarify that energy theft is a crime, can pose risks to people's safety and directly harms the population with instability in energy supply and loss of tax revenue, which are important for maintaining public services in the municipality. Therefore, CPFL maintains an easy and anonymous reporting channel for anyone who wants to report possible cases of fraud”, highlighted Rafael Lazzaretti, the group's commercial director.
Among the municipalities with the highest energy recovery in the region, Campinas recorded 57.5 thousand MWh, coming in first place. Piracicaba occupies second place with 12,600 MWh, followed by Sumaré with 11,600 MWh, Hortolândia with 7,500 MWh and Americana with 3,600 MWh.
