The president of FER (Parliamentary Renewable Energy Front), federal deputy Danilo Forte (PSDB/CE), will meet this week with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, deputy Arthur Lira (PP/AL), to discuss the PL 5829, which aims to create the framework for distributed generation in Brazil.
“We are going to have a conversation with him [Arthur Lira] to discuss this issue and we are going to have a conversation at government level”, said deputy Forte during the webinar “Marco da Geração Distribuída – PL 5829/2019”, held by Frenlogi (Mixed Parliamentary Front for Logistics and Infrastructure) last Friday (9).
“The government needs to have a better understanding of the importance of distributed generation today for this new moment in Brazil’s economy and also for this moment in the debate on changing energy generation around the world and that the greatest contribution that Brazil can give is the lived experience of creating clean energy”, added the parliamentarian.
Questioned by the report Solar Channel Regarding what day this meeting will be, Congressman Forte informed that he will be in Brasília this Tuesday (13) and that the meeting with Lira could take place on that day.

At the opening of the webinar, Senator Wellington Fagundes (PR/MT), president of Frenlogi, highlighted the importance of creating public policies to promote renewable sources in the Brazilian energy matrix.
“It is necessary to implement policies that promote the development of this important sector, such as adequate taxation of credit lines consistent with the reality of users and a legal standard that can cover these challenges. Only then will we be able to develop the economy and become competitive.”
The senator also highlighted the potential of the distributed generation sector in creating jobs in the country. “Just as for a patient who is intubated in an ICU, oxygen is vital, for Brazil, at this time of the pandemic, especially for fathers and mothers who are heads of the family, employment is fundamental. Today, through this energy matrix we have the possibility of promoting the generation of direct jobs because when you set up a plant, in addition to the technology and the building, there is also the maintenance of everything that was built. So, photovoltaic solar energy is, without a doubt, a great generator of jobs”, he emphasized.
Net benefits of PL 5829 to the electrical system
PL 5829, authored by deputy Silas Câmara, and reported by deputy Lafayette de Andrada, has been the subject of several webinars and motivated the preparation of several studies on how its approval could impact the Brazilian economy.
According to a calculation carried out by ABS (Baiana Solar Energy Association) and INEL (National Institute of Clean Energy), the approval of PL 5829 should bring approximately R$ 50 billion in benefits to the electricity sector by 2035.
According to the person responsible for the study, engineer Tássio Barboza, Technical Director of ABS and Assistant Secretary for Technical Affairs at INEL, the GD legal framework will contribute to maintaining the volume of water in the reservoirs, reduce electrical losses and, consequently, there will be less need to activate tariff flags.
