Delta Energia announced that it is expanding its operations in the shared solar generation segment, with the construction of 13 plants in nine states. Together, the projects total 110 MWp, expected to come into operation by June 2024. The value of the investment was not revealed.

The plants will be installed in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco, Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District. In total, the expectation is to serve around 60 thousand consumer units.

According to the director of Delta Solar, Geraldo Mota, some works are well advanced. “We have a plant ready in Três Lagoas (MS), which has just received approval from the distributor for us to start supplying energy in the region. We are accelerating the construction of another plant in Mato Grosso do Sul and another five in cities in São Paulo”, said the executive in a statement. These units total 80 MWp.

The remaining six units, which are under construction, have the potential to reach up to 30 MWp and serve around 16,500 consumers by February next year.

The company LUZ, the Group's retail subsidiary, will be responsible for supplying energy to low voltage consumers, such as homes and businesses. “The retail growth strategy foresees that the process will be led by the company LUZ. Therefore, the operation of the solar plants that are being built will be carried out by our digital energy supplier”, said Mota.

In addition to distributed generation, LUZ also operates in the free energy market as a retail supplier, focusing on serving high voltage consumers.

With more than 21 years of operation, Grupo Delta is responsible for transacting around 5,000 average MW on the free market, which corresponds to 8% of Brazilian national consumption.

In recent years, the corporation has invested to expand the Group's reach in the energy retail sector. In addition to the acquisition and creation of new companies, preparations involve investments in technology, human resources and marketing.

“We are in an important and unprecedented process of evolution towards opening up the Brazilian electricity sector. We want new customers to receive full support in the migration process and in choosing their energy supplier. Therefore, our investment has been intense to meet this market demand”, concludes Mota.
