A EDP, through EDP Smart – a division that brings together the company’s portfolio of energy solutions company – studies sites for construction of five new photovoltaic plants at the State of Espírito Santo.
It is estimated that the projects will have a generation capacity of up to 25.7 MWp and that the total investment of the works will be approximately R$ 155 million.
EDP's initiative is part of the company's strategy to invest in the photovoltaic sector national. In Espírito Santo alone, seven solar plants will be delivered by the end of 2023.
In addition to these five, two others are already underway in the State, one in Mucurici and the other in Pinheiros. The investment in these two plants is R$ 45 million, with the prospect of generating up to 9.2 MWp.
EDP investments
On August 30th, EDP announced the sale of the Mascarenhas hydroelectric plant, in Baixo Guandu, with the aim of reducing the share of the water source in its generating complex and investing in solar energy.
The company aims to reach 1 GW of exposure to solar energy by 2025. To support this investment, the company has already raised more than R$ 1.9 billion from the market.
The sale of the Mascarenhas hydroelectric plant, valued at R$ 1.2 billion, also promises to finance, in the future, other clean energy projects foreseen in the company's global plan, such as wind generation projects.
