The Spanish company Solatio Energia will invest R$ 8.5 billion at construction of a solar energy farm in Cassilândia, in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul. The investment was announced this Tuesday (18) by the State Government.
The contract for the installation of the plant provides for the start of generation for January 2025. The investment has as a partner the company Tradener, which will sell the energy generated in the Free market.
In total, the enterprise will have 2.5 GW generation capacity, in an area of 3,500 hectares, equivalent to 3,500 football fields. To the construction of the complex are planned to be started in the month of September this year.
According to Jaime Verruck, secretary of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul, the implementation of the new solar farm aims – in addition to promoting the growth of renewable energy – to help the State achieve carbon neutrality in 2030.
“These negotiations between the State Government and Solatio began in 2016 and today came to fruition with the announcement of the viability of the project. This is a fundamental investment for our policy of encouraging the generation of clean and renewable energy in Mato Grosso do Sul”, he said.
