After implementing the first floating solar plant on a mining lake in Brazil, in Roseira (SP), the F2B – Brazilian company that operates in photovoltaic generation projects in water bodies – informed that it will invest in the development of this market.

The proposal is goal transform flooded areas from the mining process into floating solar plants for commercializing renewable energy in the Mercado Livre de Energia, aiming to meet the demand of business consumers.

F2B highlights that to do this it also already has mapped one potential for installing these plants in Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso, initially, with the possibility of investments totaling more than R$ 180 million over the next two years, including projects of more than 200 MW in total.

A float technology used in the project is of Italian origin and It is manufactured in Brazil by F2B itself. The country's current manufacturing capacity is 80 MW per year in floats, with the prospect of reaching around 300 MW in 2024.

According to Orestes Gonçalves, managing partner of F2B, the perspective of the company to advance in project development is to replicate what was done at the Roseira (RS) plant in other units of the group and take the technology to other Brazilian states.

“Our intention is to offer customers the possibility of credit lines, like Finame. The company's expectation in this area is to obtain a turnover in the order of tens of millions with the entry of around 200 MW in the next 12 months”, said the executive.
