Businessman invests in remote self-consumption and saves R$ 8 thousand per month

Savings of R$ 8 thousand monthly were achieved due to the installation of a 95,880 kWp photovoltaic system

Six months ago, Bedin Supermarket, in Chapecó (SC), reduced its energy bill from R$ 12 thousand to R$ 4 thousand per month. Savings of R$ 8 thousand per month were achieved due to the installation of a 95,880 kWp photovoltaic system on a farm in the municipality of Nova Itaberaba, located 37 km from the establishment.

The system has 282 340 Wp Risen solar panels, four Renovigi inverters, one three-phase 60 kW and three single-phase 5 kW. The total investment was R$ 260 thousand with financing support.

O payback Estimated time is three years. According to Tiago Bedin, administrator of the supermarket and owner of the Itaberaba farm, the impossibility of installing the system in the supermarket, due to the structure not being adequate, was the best solution found to use the land available on the farm.

“Two years ago we had our first contact with solar energy and requested a quote, but the supermarket's roof was small and would not support a photovoltaic system according to our needs. As a solution, I remembered the farm that was standing in Itaberaba, which was intended to raise cattle. We decided to adapt and build a structure to support a system and started generating energy in the countryside to credit in the city”, explains the businessman.

In addition to the Bedin supermarket, the system also meets the needs of the farm where consumption occurs in smaller quantities. According to Lucas José Frizon, director of Domuss Energia Solar de Chapecó, accredited by Renovigi and responsible for the project, the energy generated by the system supplies 80% of the farm's and supermarket's consumption.

“We designed a model of up to 75 kW where the dealership carried out the service with the appropriate adjustments. Later, we started the installation and within a month the system was working. The client has already signaled its interest in increasing the number of modules to reach maximum generation, of up to 95% of savings”, concluded Frizon.

Remote self-consumption

The procedure adopted by businessman Bedin, of generating energy in one location and offsetting it on the electricity bill elsewhere, is called remote self-consumption, validated by REN 687 (Normative Resolution No. 687/2015) of ANEEL (National Energy Agency electrical).

However, for this to happen Vanderleia Ferraz, electrical engineer in the technical support area at Renovigi, clarifies that there are some requirements. “This modality only applies to On-grid photovoltaic systems (connected to the grid). Furthermore, it is necessary that the consumer units have the same ownership and are within the concession area of the same distributor”, explained Vanderleia.
