Generating your own energy through solar panels continues to be very viable and economical

The much talked about “taxation of the sun”, which emerged from the GD Legal Framework (distributed generation), came into force at the beginning of January due to the effects of Law 14,300, bringing some cost changes for those who generate their own solar energy.

Although the changes included charging for the costs of using the electricity grid, including the Wire B, which is linked to the use of the local concessionaire's distribution network infrastructure to homes, businesses, industries and rural properties, this cost is still very low when compared to the full energy tariff.

The option to generate your own energy through solar panels continues to be very viable and economical, in addition to being a sustainable option and environmentally correct.

It is a very safe, silent, long service life, extensive warranties and requires a low level of attention in relation to periodic maintenance.

These characteristics, combined with increasingly easier access due to available credit lines and attractive forms of payment in installments without interest on credit cards, meant that more than 750 thousand new systems were installed last year alone, the vast majority of which were systems low power homes.

Through these generators, thousands of families began to make better use of household appliances that they already had, but that they did not turn on, such as air conditioning, and many increased the number of electrical appliances at home, aiming for greater comfort at home.

Another factor that has been weighing heavily on this movement towards adopting solar energy is the issue of sustainability. Through solar energy it is possible to produce energy for cooking and fueling vehicles, thus eliminating the use of fossil fuels.

In short, choosing solar panels is a very smart, economical and sustainable decision. Even with paying the costs of using the electricity grid, producing your own energy can still reduce the cost of the energy bill paid by more than 50% and also increase the family's comfort.

  1. Something very important and little information is known about is taxes.
São Paulo was charging ICMS on TUSD and TE injected at the beginning of 2022.
Since then, several changes have occurred at the federal and state levels. Laws that “didn’t catch on” and a lot of confusion.
Currently, the STF considered the collection of ICMS to be illegal, but reversed the prohibition of collection because it considered that the drop in revenue would create a breach in the States and federation.
It is difficult to understand what should or should not be practiced. It is worth remembering that ICMS of 25% practically corresponds to the value of wire B, considered a possible impediment to investments in DG.
