The sector of solar energy was already responsible for creating 1.1 million more jobs in Brazil since 2012, date of the beginning of the expansion of the source in the country following the creation of Resolution 482.

Of this amount, 768.1 thousand new jobs accumulated through own generation systems energy and other 344.2 thousand targeted admissions for large plants, second data from ABSOLATE (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).

“With the combination of technologies such as storage It is green hydrogen, Brazil can, in a short time, boost its sustainable development, with the generation of thousands of new green jobs, bringing more income to workers and more opportunities for our population”, said Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the entity's Board of Directors .

At the end of last year, the Brazil was classified as the fourth country with the highest job creation in the solar energy sector, according to IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency).

The entity's study was released in September and took into account data from the entire year 2022 from several countries around the world.

In total, Brazil added more than 214 thousand workers in the photovoltaic market in 2022, behind only China, India and the United States, which accumulated 2.76 million in the period; 281.4 thousand and 264 thousand jobs, respectively.

Brazil exceeds 37 GW

In addition to the more than 1.1 million jobs achieved, data from ABSOLAR also shows that the solar energy in Brazil reached, at the beginning of the year, the mark of 37 GW of installed capacity, with 25.6 GW in distributed generation and 11.4 GW in centralized generation.

Furthermore, the source would also have been responsible for attracting more than R$ 179.5 billion in new investments and to raise more than R$ 50.3 billion in revenue from public coffers since 2012. During this period, solar energy has also prevented the emission of 45.2 million tons of CO2 In the atmosphere.
