More of 150 thousand residents from remote regions of Legal Amazon received electricity in the last five years only through solar energy.
Inside Light for All Program, from the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), these families were provided with access to electricity from kits with photovoltaic panels, inverters, controllers and lithium batteries.
A opting for technology, according to the Ministry, occurs due to the difficult access to these locations to distribution networks.
By 2026, the The goal is to increase the number of beneficiaries, about 900 thousand people, with the installation of equipment in 228,287 consumer units.
According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the solar energy is a great ally in serving remote communities, where it is not possible to make network extensions.
“If we have abundant sun in a large part of Brazil, we can transform it into access to energy, inclusion, employment, income and dignity,” he said.
Created in 2003, O Light for All Has as objective of bringing access to electricity to isolated communities of Brazil who never had electricity at their disposal, especially in the Legal Amazon.
For this year, the MME set the program budget at R$ 2.5 billion, being the same object of Public Consultation No. 154/2023, promoted by the Ministry with the electricity sector and Brazilian society, having received 23 contributions.
