O Brazil surpassed the mark 35 GW of installed capacity in solar energy, adding the DG (distributed generation) and GC (centralized generation) segments. This is what updated data points out, in the early afternoon of this Tuesday (07), by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
Currently, the national photovoltaic market has 24.35GW accumulated through own energy generation systems It is 10.68 GW generated from the large solar plants. In total, in the last twelve months, the country installed almost 14 GW of power.
In the segment of GD solar, Brazil already has more than 2.18 million photovoltaic systems installed. Of this total, more than 694 thousand were implemented in 2023 alone, according to ANEEL.
Furthermore, of the 5,570 municipalities cataloged by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), more than 99% (5,540 cities) have at least one solar energy system installed in their municipalities.

The segment of Solar GC, in addition to having 10.68 GW of operational power, it also adds little more than 131 GW expected to enter commercial operation.
Of this amount, 7.45 GW are from projects with construction started and another 123.61 GW from projects with construction not yet started.
