The Sheraton WTC Hotel was the stage, this Wednesday (9) and Thursday (10), for Energyear Brasil 2022 – an event that aimed to discuss the current situation of the Brazilian electricity sector, the market niches that are most advanced in this period and the how companies are adapting to current adversities to continue competing.

The meeting also discussed the future of the renewable energy sector and policies that can guarantee opportunities in competition with different generation technologies.

Besides the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas, the first day of the congress featured special appearances by Rodrigo Coelho, chief of staff of the general directorate of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), and federal deputy, Lafayette de Andrada (Republicanos/MG).

In his speech, Coelho said that the energy transition towards decarbonization points to increasing investments in clean energy as consumers and governments demand greater environmental awareness. The executive also said that “renewable sources are becoming more competitive every day compared to other energy sources”.

Lafayette, in turn, said that the Brazilian renewables market is experiencing its best moment, with the publication of Law 14,300. “I had the opportunity to author the text approved by the Chamber, which ensures clean, renewable and cheaper energy for Brazilian families, in addition, of course, to legal security for the sector. For this reason, this year the Energyear event has a special character, as it takes place amidst the effervescence of all these positive events for Brazil in terms of renewable energy”, he stated.

Both the first and second days of the event also included a series of lectures with the presence of executives from large companies (national and international). In total, 270 people attended the meeting, in person or remotely (online).

On the first day, the highlights were the “Leaders Panel”, with executives from Jinko Solar, Rio Energy, Alsol and CPFL Soluções. In this block of debates, points for the energy transition in Brazil and opportunities for growth through renewable energy were discussed.

Also highlighted on the first day were three other panels: one on technological advances in the solar sector, another on the LCOE of solar plants, in addition to the meeting on peculiarities in the construction of photovoltaic projects in Brazil.

The second day had a less extensive agenda for visitors, with emphasis on the “Panel of Associations”, which debated the renewable energy sector in Brazil and the policies necessary for its development.
