ES requires the use of PV systems in public buildings

The governor also stated that the state is studying the use of buses powered by gas and electricity

The governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, signed on Monday (14) a decree that makes it mandatory to install photovoltaic systems on the roofs of state public buildings to be built. The decree also applies to municipal public buildings built with part of the funds coming from the state.

“We signed this decree today so that we can take advantage of the growth in energy with adequate cost-benefit and also so that we can give signals to the designers of future public buildings. The Government needs to show signs of which path it wants to follow”, stated Governor Casagrande.

“Solar energy is becoming viable. Wind energy has already become viable and the Northeast is being supplied with it. We are now bringing on the PPP (Public-Private Partnerships) platform the replacement of energy in public buildings through the construction of mini solar plants”, he added.

If the public building that falls under this decree is unable to receive a photovoltaic solar system, the public administration may supply the equivalent energy through remote self-consumption.

The governor also stated that the state is studying the use of buses powered by gas and electricity. These actions symbolize the state's concern with following environmental sustainability trends and reducing greenhouse gases.
