The Pará Olympic Stadium – better known as Mangueirão – which has already hosted four games for the Brazilian football team, will undergo modernization that is beyond sustainable.
The arena, opened in 1978, will receive the installation of a solar plant and will also have rainwater collection and reuse systems, as well as expanding its capacity from the current 35 thousand to more than 53 thousand people.

The implementation of the photovoltaic plant will involve the participation of SDB Energia Solar and, in total, 3,360 photovoltaic modules capable of producing more than 1.6 GWh per year will be used.
Connected to the local distribution network, the plant will contribute to the reduction of more than 5 thousand tons of CO₂ in the atmosphere over 25 years, the equivalent of planting more than 20 thousand trees.
“We will have the challenge of taking advantage of the stadium's original roof for the production of photovoltaic energy, without however affecting its characteristic architecture, which is part of Mangueirão's identity”, said Lucas Macedo, CEO of SDB Energia Solar.

The project, carried out by SEDOP (State Secretariat for Urban Development and Public Works) of the Government of Pará, will also include a new lighting, drainage and lawn system to the standards required by FIFA – contributing to the improvement of access and various interventions to increase security of the public.
With a deadline of 18 months, the works have already started by the Consortium Obras Mangueirão, formed by MRM, OCC and SDB. With an investment of more than R$ 146 million, delivery is expected by the end of 2022.
