São Paulo became, on the morning of this Tuesday (06), the second Brazilian state to achieve the 2 GW of installed power in solar energy photovoltaic in the segment of G.D. (distributed generation), behind only Minas Gerais – which hit the mark in August this year and currently has 2.22 GW.

Altogether, the São Paulo municipalities already have more than 231.8 thousand photovoltaic systems connected to the network. Of this amount, around 86% (199.4 thousand solar panels) were installed in homes and 8.7% (20.3 thousand) in commercial establishments.

The information was collected by Solar Channel next to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

A Capital is the municipality that leads the numbers in the State in terms of power, with 60.9 MW installed. Just behind appear: Ribeirão Preto (57.2 MW), Campinas (54.5 MW), São José do Rio Preto (48.6 MW) and Presidente Prudente (48.2 MW).

Leadership in 2022

If we only take into account the numbers for the year 2022, the territory of São Paulo is the state that has installed the most power and distributed micro and mini generation systems in the country.

Between January 1st and December 6th, around 0.85 GW of power was added and another 101 thousand systems were installed. In 2021, for comparison purposes, there were 0.54 GW and 70.1 thousand connections.

ICMS exemption
