It is nothing new that DG (Distributed Generation) systems have become increasingly used by Brazilians and that the demand for this production has been growing over time.

Savings on electricity bills and sustainability for the future of the planet have become the main attractions for investment.

Even with all the uncertainty regarding the creation or not of the sector's Legal Framework, data from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Energy Association), obtained by Solar Channel, point out that Several states continued to record records in photovoltaic generation during the first half of 2021.

Minas Gerais, for example, was the first state in the country to surpass the 1 GW mark in operation in homes, businesses, industries, rural properties and public buildings. The territory of Minas Gerais also approached 100 thousand operational connections, currently spread across 843 of the 853 cities in the region.

In Paraná, own generation of solar energy has already attracted more than R$ 1.6 billion in investments, in addition to generating almost 10 thousand jobs and raising more than R$ 372.7 million to public coffers.

In Rio de Janeiro, solar has become a technology present in 100% of Rio's municipalities, with 27,294 operational connections, spread across all 92 cities. Currently, there are more than 31.5 thousand electricity consumers who already have a reduction in their electricity bill, greater autonomy and energy security.

The same is about to happen in Rio Grande do Sul, where only one municipality still does not have the generation of photovoltaic systems. In total, the gauchos have about 86,301 electricity consumers, which has already generated almost R$ 1 billion in public coffers.

Ceará is another state that has been benefiting from solar energy. In June, the region surpassed the mark of 14 thousand operational connections for its own generation of photovoltaic energy on roofs and small plots of land.

Its about an increase of 40% compared to December last year, when there were 10 thousand units installed. Goiás and Espírito Santo also recorded positive numbers throughout the first half of 2021.

While the people of Goiás surpassed the R$ 1.5 billion accumulated contributions, the people of Espírito Santo started to have all 78 cities with photovoltaic systems in operation.

For Rodrigo Sauaia, executive president of ABSOLAR, the numbers presented show that Solar has not only been gaining space in the Brazilian electrical matrix, but is also expected to play an increasingly strategic role for Brazil's socioeconomic and sustainable development.

“Photovoltaic technology is essential for the recovery of the economy and to alleviate the scarcity of water in hydroelectric reservoirs, as well as to help reduce the electricity bills of all consumers,” he said.
