One TrendForce report on the supply segment of photovoltaic panels and energy solutions in the second quarter of 2022 pointed out that it reached 56 the number of companies capable of producing 210 mm photovoltaic cells.

These manufacturers are responsible for 80% cell production in the sector, which signals a strong expansion of products with this capacity on the market, with annual growth of 51%. In total, they are already 23 module manufacturers adopting 600W+ technology.

Significantly increased the proportion of 182 and 210 mm large modules (including 210R) purchased and in use. This year, high-power ones (≥530 W), represented by variations between 182 and 210mm (including 210R), have become popular in central and state-owned enterprises,” the study said.

An analysis of the announced 89.4 GW of panel proposals indicates that around 72.2 GW (77%) of them have no specific size requirements and only want power of 530 W or higher.

“While, 17.2 GW of proposals have specific module size requirements, of which large variations (182 and 210 mm) represent 13.97 GW, or 81.2% (proportion for sizes specified by 17.2 GW)”, they reported.

Another point highlighted by TrendForce is that the demand for bifacial modules increased considerably, accounting for 62% of the proposals. Thus, bifacial and double glass are increasingly being recognized in the market.
